We will leave for Kargil early in the morning. Kargil is located at the junction of the famous Silk Road and is the second largest city in Ladakh after Leh. It is situated on the beautiful Suru River that flows through the valley, keeping it the greenest valley in the Great Himalayas at an altitude of 2700 meters.

The drive through Kargil to Padum en route offers stunning views of mountain peaks and secluded villages. Crossing the gateway to Zanskar, the Pensi La pass with the wonderful view of the glacial lake and Drang Drung glacier, we reach Padum, a small township in Zanskar named after the Great Padmasambhava and central to our visits to most of the monasteries. .

Spend the day at the prestigious Karsha Monastery, located majestically on a steep mountain overlooking the Padum Valley and is the largest monastery in Zanskar. What makes this monastery incredibly special are the little monks who study here and carry a divine innocence within them that instills every heart with a sense of wonder. Immerse yourself in their innocent wisdom and exchange learnings.
Later we will visit the Stongdey Monastery built by the great Tibetan yogi Marpa and make an offering to the goddess Palden Lhamo, the supreme authority of the protectors of the Dharma. Behold the beauty of the exquisite paintings of the deities and various ancient works of art inside the monastery surrounded by pristine Himalayan landscapes.

Today we visited the Sani monastery associated with a famous Buddhist yogi, Naropa, who mediated under the Kanika Stupa, a Chorten built in the 1st century by the Kalinga empire around which the monastery is situated. Stroll through the alleys of a beautiful village with poplar plantations and fields of barley, potatoes and peas to Guru Padmasambhava's leisure ground next to a beautiful spring lake.
After lunch, we will visit Dzongkhul Monastery located at the foot of a wide side valley and said to have been founded by the great saint Naropa. Next to the elegant Bardur River, the monastery is built directly on a rock wall and houses ancient thangkas and images of lamas with care and reverence.

After breakfast in Padum, we will leave for Cha, the oldest village in the Zanskar Valley that still retains its pristine character. We begin our day's trek towards Phukthal Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Zanskar, hidden in a cave and a sacred refuge for many masters since time immemorial. The walk along a stunning winding path alongside the Lungnak River provides a space for contemplation and investigation, as the scale of the surrounding untouched landscape provides perspective. At Phukthal Monastery, we will camp under the open sky or stay in the monastery guest house depending on availability.

As the early sunlight spreads over the land, we begin the day in the monastery's main hall for Tsoks, a practice of offering and purification performed by monks. After breakfast, savor the beautiful view of the valley and its river before making our way back to Cha village, where we will stop to enjoy a home-cooked lunch at a local village house. Shortly after lunch, we will begin our journey back to Padum, stopping along the way at the spectacular Bardan Monastery.
