Itinerary -12 DAYS INNER JOURNEY
- In your best interest, sometimes you may need to make necessary modifications to your vacation itinerary. Where practical, we will advise you before you leave your home town, although we may occasionally be forced to make changes along the way. We will keep you informed at all times.
- Bad weather in mountainous regions can cause flight delays. These problems mainly occur in the Ladakh region of India. If the delay is prolonged, it may be necessary for us to reroute the walk and tour, perhaps to an area more easily accessible by road transport. We accept no liability for charges incurred as a result of flight delays and missed international flight connections. However, we will do our best to help you.
- You understand and agree that the proposed tour may expose you to levels of physical exertion to which you may not be accustomed or expose you to hazards inherent in traveling through remote areas which may be subject to, among other things, political, physical, sanitary or climatic conditions. By agreeing to use our services, you accept these dangers and unfavorable conditions.
- You must purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes a provision for helicopter rescue when you pay your deposit.
- We strongly recommend that you visit your doctor and dentist before your vacation. You should consult your doctor about current vaccination requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be sent to us when booking. Elderly clients or clients with pre-existing medical conditions may require a letter from their doctor clearing them for the trek and Beyond Himalayas Pvt. Limited. Limited. Ltd. reserves the right to verify these documents before confirmation of tours and treks.
- A valid passport is required for all tourists. Passports must be valid for a minimum of six months from the start of the trip, with at least two clean pages per country to visit.
- A valid visa is required for the entire destination. You should always consult your doctor or the nearest travel clinic for the latest information on recommended health precautions, both vaccination and malaria prophylaxis.
- Complete medical kits are carried on all trips. Additionally, medical oxygen and portable altitude chambers are carried as a precaution on high-altitude hikes and climbing expeditions. All meals during the trek are prepared specifically for your group with strict hygiene standards and sterile washing facilities are provided.
- Altitude sickness can affect anyone. Serious problems are avoided by incorporating rest and acclimatization. For normal symptoms, a drop in altitude or time in a portable acclimatization chamber leads to a rapid recovery.
- Travel insurance that includes helicopter evacuation is highly valued.
- Customers over the age of sixty must complete a personal and medical travel history questionnaire. People under the age of sixteen can join specific family outings and private groups.
DAY 01
DELHI TO LEH
We will meet you at Leh airport. Flights usually land at 11:30am and you'll head straight to a beautiful local homestay. Spend the day acclimatizing as you observe the simple life of the Ladakhi people amidst serene landscapes. In the evening you can explore the lively Leh market. Beneath the impressive eighth-floor Leh Palace, the market square offers a showcase of cultural fusion. With the Kashmiri traders coloring the streets with their exotic pashminas, the local Ladakhi women in traditional clothes selling organic vegetables, the modern cafes with the best pastries and the quiet alleys around the market telling a story woven over time. After dinner in a lovely garden restaurant, we retire to the homestay. Note: Flights are not included, but we will be happy to help you book your flights.

DAY 02
LEH DAY
We start the day with an hour-long introductory yoga session. After a healthy organic breakfast at the homestay, we will leave for the Heritage Walk in the old town. We will begin by visiting the museum built by the Leh Old Town Restoration Initiative (LOTI) group, with locally available materials and infrastructure. The structure revolves around a skyscraper (Thokskar) on the top floor and has relics of Ladakh. From there you will enter the streets of the old town where the entire landscape is just as it was in the times of the Kings, some of which have been restored by LOTI. The walk will take you through the palace of King Singay Namgyal. After lunch we will visit the beautiful Sankar Monastery. In the evening, enjoy a film screening to gain a deeper insight into Ladakh customs, followed by a short guided meditation session and dinner.

DAY 03
DRIVING TO TRUTUK
After breakfast, we begin our journey towards Turtuk. Like all overland tours around Ladakh, this tour will take you through picturesque landscapes, mountain passes, river valleys and sparse mountain settlements. We can stop at any point to enjoy the view or capture a memorable moment along the way. We will stop for a picnic lunch in the pastures of Khardong village under the mighty peak of Khardungla (the highest motorable road in the world at 18,300 feet above sea level) and continue towards the Turtuk border region between Indo-Pakistan . Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by our host at the camp. You can relax and have the rest of the night to yourself in the apricot garden. After a meditation session in the heat of a bonfire, dinner is served.

DAY 05
HUNDREDS, NUBRA VALLEY
Today enjoy the serene and peaceful environment of the beautiful Nubra Valley. After a relaxing yoga session and breakfast, we will visit the 30-meter Buddha and the adjacent Diskit Monastery. The hilltop platform overlooking the Nubra Valley is spectacular for silent contemplation. We will visit the organic orchards, sand dunes where you can ride double-humped Bactrian camels in the wild pastures or get a deeper taste of the land of Ladakh through cultural programs and archery. Return to the warmth of a campfire at night. End the day with a meditation session and a delicious meal.

NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE
Today we will depart towards Pangong Lake from Nubra Valley via Shayok. Upon reaching Pangong Lake we will check into the camp and spend the day enjoying the beauty of the lake. After afternoon tea and snacks, we will take a short walk through the vast emptiness of Pangong Tso Lake, tinged with green and blue. Conclude the day with a meditation session absorbing the silence of the place and dinner.

DAY 07
PANGONG LAKE
When the early sun rises on the stillness of Pangong Lake, one must make the most of it. After breakfast, we will head to the beautiful and little-visited town of Mann. We will take a silent walk along the serene lake and through the small streets of the town, immersing ourselves in the divinity of the simple life of the locals and discovering their many stories. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch at one of the local houses in Mann village and prepare for the return journey to Leh.

LAMAYURU MONASTERY RETREAT
Today is a day of celebration as the Lamayuru festival begins. The Yuru Kabgyat festival in Lamayuru is an ancient two-day festival dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava (the second Buddha) and Yama (the lord of death) and is an essential event in Ladakh and for Buddhists around the world. Marvel at the sacred mask dances performed as an offering to the Buddhas and the sounds of the gigantic flute that reverberate many times throughout the festival. The festival tells a story of the Buddhas' journey to Enlightenment and represents the destruction of the ego.

DAY 10
LAMAYURU, ALCHI POOJA MONASTERY
We spent the first half of the day at the Yuru Kabgyat festival in Lamayuru and after lunch we returned to Leh. On the way we will visit the Alchi Monastery, from the 10th century.

DAY 11
LEH DAY
We start the day with our last yoga and meditation session. After breakfast, we will visit the famous Shanti Stupa, where we can sit in silent contemplation surrounded by stunning landscapes. Later in the day, we will visit the ancient Thikse Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Ladakh and famous for the spectacular 15 meter high statue of Maitreya Buddha. Enjoy the rest of the day to relax, stroll through the small streets, buy souvenirs for friends and family back home, spend a quiet afternoon in a cozy cafe, and relax during the return journey.
